ALAN SILSON
Alan Silson was born in Bradford on 21.06.1951. He started playing guitar at the age of 12. He was a founder member of Smokie along with Terry Uttley and Chris Norman back in the early 70’s. He wrote many of the band’s big hits including ‘Rock Away Your Teardrops’, ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ and Heat of the Night to name but 3. He spent 22 years in Smokie as their lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter and finally left in 1996 to pursue solo ventures including tours with Suzi Quatro and solo recordings. He’s still extremely popular with fans all over the world and can be seen live on stage with his band Silson-Hawkes Band formed with Chip Hawkes of Tremeloes fame, and also T.Rex, A Celebration of Marc and Mickey.
